Main areas of advice
- Patent law: I provide our clients with comprehensive advice on developing and securing their patent strategies. This includes the registration and defense of patent rights, the enforcement of claims in the event of patent infringements and representation in national and international patent disputes. My aim is to protect our clients' innovative edge and to legally safeguard their technological developments.
- Utility model law: In the field of utility model law, I support companies in the registration, enforcement and defense of their utility model rights. This also includes advice on the strategic use of utility models in competition as well as representation before national and international courts and authorities.
- Technology transfer and license agreements: Another focus of my practice is advising on and drafting technology transfer and license agreements. I help our clients to optimally exploit their technologies and innovations and to protect them legally.
Education and professional background
I studied at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen from 1995 to 2000 and graduated with the first state examination in law. I then completed my doctorate at the chair of Prof. Dr. Gabriele Wolfslast with the title "Embryo Protection Act and Research on Human Embryonic Stem Cells".
I also completed the "Intellectual Property Law" course for engineers and lecturers at the University of Hagen. The development of this course was initiated and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and provides the knowledge required to protect technical ideas as well as designs and trademarks.
Technical knowledge
As Chairman of the Board and founding member of Germany's largest inventors' club, the Innovations-Gesellschaft Eifel e.V., founded in 1997, I have highly qualified technical know-how and have actively supported inventors and companies in the technical and practical implementation of their inventions since the society was founded. In addition, I have registered and marketed numerous patents and utility models myself over the last few years.
My special interests are in the fields of mechanics, physics, mechanical engineering and computer science.
Other knowledge and qualifications
During my doctoral studies I worked at the INSTI project management of the Cologne Institute for Economic Research. The name INSTI stands for Innovation Stimulation. The project was launched in 1995 by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). INSTI was the first nationwide network to be set up with two main objectives: to increase the use of patent information and to create a climate conducive to inventors and innovation. During the same period, I worked as a programmer (since 1989) and web designer.
